How To Adopt A Family

Adopt A Needy Family is a small, volunteer-operated non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the neediest families in Bexar County and its surrounding areas. Our team of social workers identifies families in need, and we conduct personal home visits to confirm their needs.

After confirming the needs of the families, we provide the adopters with a family wish list. Adopters have the option to personally shop for and deliver the gifts, or we can handle the delivery on their behalf. The size of the family you support can be chosen based on your comfort level.

By participating as a sponsor, I agree to provide support that aligns with the specific needs identified by the family’s assigned Social Worker. I understand that the goal of the 'Adopt-a-Needy-Family' program is to empower families toward self-sufficiency. To respect the dignity and privacy of the family, I agree to:

• Limit donations and assistance to the levels vetted and requested by the Social Worker.

• Avoid providing 'excessive' or unrequested gifts that may overwhelm the family or create unintended dependency.

• Respect the family’s right to set boundaries on visitation and the type of assistance they are willing to accept.

• Understand that 'Adopting' a family is a symbolic term for temporary sponsorship and does not constitute a legal or permanent familial relationship.
