“I have been fortunate to be involved with the Adopt A Needy Family organization since it was formed in 1999. Prior to obtaining our 501 (C) 3 status the program was run by a generous caring individual Father James Hubert. Father was my religious teacher in grade school at Mount Sacred Heart School in San Antonio. Father achieved much of his passion for assisting the needy through his introduction to Mother Theresa in 1967. Since that time Father James always sought out the most needy families and found ways to provide both counseling and financial assistance to them. It is with that spirit and his example of serving the poor, through his “Adopt A Needy Family” program, that we continue his legacy of touching those in need.”

Judy Pfeifer

A professional school counselor for 23 years and clinician in private practice for the past 3 years Ms. Pfeifer has been involved with Adopt A Needy Family since 1989. Judy’s best experiences are the years when she worked directly with Fr. James Hubert, the founder of the AANF. I am honored to serve as a board member for the cause of serving the poor.

Alejandro Calderon,
Executive Director

As a young student from a family that moved back and forth between San Antonio and Nuevo Laredo, Tamps. Mexico following his dad’s business ventures, Alejandro attended Mount Sacred Heart where he met Father James. Alejandro distinctly remembers giving gifts to Father James so he could help others, not knowing at the time that Father James vision and effort would someday become Adopt A Needy Family.  Alejandro enrolled at St. Anthony Junior Seminary, now known as St. Anthony Catholic High School and attended The University of the Incarnate Word.  After college he worked for Altos Hornos de Mexico, Dept. of Commerce in Washington DC, and Texas Migrant Council in Laredo. For the past 16 years he has been employed at St. Anthony Catholic High School and is currently the Director of Admissions, Development and Alumni Relations. Alejandro said, “It is nice to see what Father James began as a small project grow into Adopt A Needy Family and what it has the potential to become, Father James would be proud of Adopt A Needy Family.”
